There is a growing awareness of the detrimental effects of tech use, especially that of AI. Our digital lifestyles generate bloated data that we then hoard onto multiple devices and on cloud services. Educators find themselves in a key position to identify and nurture small but meaningful actions to reduce the bloating and the hoarding of data. Once we help our students turn those actions into habits, our collective online carbon footprint reduces significantly. In this talk, the potential environmental dangers of unmoderated use of generative AI are discussed with examples of what to avoid and how.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Dr. Elisa Schaeffer (<\/span>https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-6300-7208<\/span><\/a>)\u00a0<\/span>is an Associate Professor of Applied Digital Intelligence and the Academic Director of Technology and Innovation at the McGill School of Continuing Studies. She has a keen interest in computational intelligence, and her research jumps around the potential applications of graph theory and machine learning, touching areas such as social sciences, medicine, economics, and forestry. She is passionate about digital learning, real-time and asynchronous, and an early adopter of emerging software and hardware solutions to facilitate teaching and research, especially open-source solutions<\/span><\/p>

\nTitle : Audio-Visual Flipped Classrooms: A Pathway to Improved Self-Regulated Learning

Audio-Visual Flipped Classroom is one of the novel approaches particularly in the domain of Education 5.0 which combines multimedia resources with learner centric instructions and also give more autonomy to students. This study aims to examine the impact of Audio-Visual Flipped Classroom to enhance students\u2019 self-regulated learning in the context of Higher Education Institutions of Pakistan. The findings of the study reveal that there is a positive impact of audio-visual flipped classroom to promote self-regulated learning among learners. The outcome of this study will facilitate the students based on various learning preferences, and also make it easier for students to acquire content knowledge independently. Also, to improve its effectiveness, instructors must ensure adequate knowledge of digital skills and availability of resources from learners\u2019 side before the implementation of AVFC. They can make efforts to develop teachers\u2019 competence to adapt the technological advancements for improving students\u2019 critical thinking and collaboration to benefit their learning.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Dr. Muhammad Mujtaba Asad is serving as an Assistant Professor and Lead Researcher of Educational Technologies and TVET Research Group at Sukkur IBA University. Dr Mujtaba has national and international working experience of more than 10 years at industrial and educational sector in the domain of Educational Technologies, Work & Product-Based Education and Technical and Vocational Education. Dr. Mujtaba has published more than Sixty (60) research articles (ISI & Scopus Indexed) in reputed international journals and conferences worldwide. Also, a book related to the observational skills of competent educators under the CS publishing house USA is in his publication credit. He has also received three Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal in international research and development completions with seven best research awards in Malaysia, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and UAE on his commercialized projects. Moreover, Dr. Mujtaba is also an active member of Seven (7) national and international research grants. Dr. Mujtaba is also an internationally certified educational technologist (Malaysian Board of Technologist) and holds certifications and qualification in industrial safety and health education from NIOSH and OSH Department of Ontario, Canada. He is also serving as an Editorial Board Member to twelve (12) reputed and indexed international journals. Dr. Mujtaba also holds several international Copyrights and has filed one Product Patent under the title of HAZFO Expert 1.0 for Drilling Operation. \nTitle: How to Integrate AI into Education: Course Design, Delivery and Assessment

The objective of the talk is to explore a pedagogical approach that places Large Language Models (LLMs) at the center of the education system rather than excluding them. In this talk, I will highlight the importance of leveraging both the limitations and strengths of AI for education. First, I will show how assessments can be designed based on the limitations of LLMs. Next, I will present the AI Socrates Chatbot that leverages the strengths of LLMs to help students grasp course concepts in an effective way. Finally, I will present our latest approach to evaluating students\u2019 answers based on the reasoning evidence they provide in their responses. The talk will conclude by providing some insights drawn from the results of data collected from several LLM-authorized exams that were conducted in the UAE and France.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Dr Ahmad Samer Wazan is an Associate Professor at Zayed and Toulouse Universities. His research topics include trust management, PKI, access control, OS security, security requirements engineering, and AI in education. Between 2007 and 2011, he led a research project that introduced a new trust model for the X.509 standard by incorporating an entity called the Trust Broker. This proposal was included in the 2016 edition of the X.509 standard. He also collaborated with researchers from the UK and France to implement the first proof-of-concept verifiable credential system. Recently, he conducted a research project proposing a new command, sr (switch role), to replace the sudo command in Linux environments (https:\/\/github.com\/SamerW\/RootAsRole<\/a>). Furthermore, Mr. Wazan is actively working on AI integration in education. He has developed a new chatbot called Socrates Chatbot that he is using in his classroom. He has also developed a methodology to evaluate students\u2019 thinking as they use AI during exams.
